Miniature Labradoodles on the Net

The best single link in the Labradoodle world is the Goldendoodle web site Goldendoodle Home Page  based in Canada and run by Blue - an owner of two beautiful Goldendoodles.

Blue's site contains many pages of Labradoodles (http://www.goldendoodles.com/Labradoodles/index.htm)as well as her beloved Goldendoodles. She welcomes photographs and offers the opportunity for people to have their own page for their favourite puppy photos.

Leaping Louis - This is a page I have put up from a letter and photos I received some time ago. I loved this letter - everyone who expects their dog to be angelic in adolescence should read it. It deserved a wider audience!

Useful dog sites in Australia

Selectapet - provide a questionnaire, using similar considerations to those outlined here, which generates a shortlist of pure breeds which might suit you. It's fun to work through but shouldn't be taken as gospel.

Dogs NSW – if you are interested in getting a pedigreed purebred dog

And a general site for people trying to pick a dog:

The Intelligence of Dogs Results of a survey of American vets, dog trainers and dog breeders ranking dog breeds according to their intelligence. From a book by Stanley Cohen.

Genetics Links

These sites all discuss the problems which have arisen in purebred dogs. Jeffry Bragg and John Armstrong are fortunately no longer lone voices in the wilderness but it will be many years before their message reaches the average dog breeder or changes the attitude and rules of their governing bodies.

The Canine Diversity Project - This project is an admirable undertaking in trying to introduce a rational modern approach to dog breeding. Anyone interested in breeding dogs should join the discussion group managed by John Armstrong.

http://siriusdog.com/bragg.htm - Purebred dog breeds into the 21st Century: Achieving genetic health for our dogs. Jeffry Bragg is a passionate dog breeder working very hard to try and alter the climate and politics of dog breeding in North America. His experiences with his chosen breed make fascinating reading.

http://www.magmacom.com/~kaitlin/popsire.html - This reference highlights the inevitable consequences of the widespread use of particular dogs.

http://siriusdog.com/genes.htm - The Genetic Cul-de-sac Dogs as an endangered species. An introduction to the technical aspects of dog breeding from a modern genetic viewpoint.

ttp://www.sheltie.com/breeding.htm - A traditional dog breeder's discussion of genetics. I am not trying to ridicule this person who is certainly a knowledgeable, dedicated and experienced breeder, but rather to point out that, typically, the genetic theory cited is all work which was done in the 19th century.

Links to other breeders

I live in Western New South Wales and it never ceases to amaze me that I have dogs all over Australia and the world.

Our isolation has meant that I have met few Labradoodles bred by any other breeders in Australia and so I am in no position to comment on other people's dogs or how they compare with mine.
